Diploma in Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy

The course content outlined below is constantly subject to revision and improvement; it is provided only as a guide.  See our recommended reading list and the page explaining Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy for more information. 

Students maintain records of all practical exercises during training which are reviewed in their subsequent written assessment (portfolio of evidence) completed online, in three sections, after each stage of classroom training has been completed.  The student handbook for the diploma contains full details of assessments and learning outcomes.

Stage 1: Certificate in Evidence-Based Hypnotherapy

Stage one is mainly focused on basic hypnotherapy assessment, hypnotic induction, and the use of suggestion; it presents a rounded basic training in traditional hypnotherapy.

This stage also covers material corresponding to Unit 1 (Assessing the Client) of the National Occupational Standards and the Diploma award and is followed by online assesment using written test questions.

Stage 2: Advanced Certificate in Evidence-Based Hypnotherapy

Stage two is mainly focused on behavioural psychology in hypnotherapy and the role of behaviour therapy in hypnotherapy, especially in the treatment of anxiety and habits.

This stage also covers material corresponding to Units 2 (Conducting Hypnotherapy) and 3 (Teaching Self-Help) of the National Occupational Standards and the Diploma award and is followed by online assesment using written test questions.

Stage 3: Diploma in Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy

Stage three is mainly focused on cognitive (rational) approaches to hypnotherapy and draws upon parallels between traditional hypnotherapy and modern cognitive therapy, especially in the use of mental imagery techniques.
